Ministry Opportunities

Members and friends of First Presbyterian Church are invited and encouraged to be involved in the ministry of the church. One of the ways everyone can take part is by serving with others to carry out the mission and work of the church.
Please feel free to contact any of the Session members if you have questions about any of these ministry opportunities. Remember, everyone is invited to be involved in the mission and work of First Presbyterian Church!

Session

The local church governing body is the Session which is made up of 9 elected representatives of the congregation. These members serve as chairs of the various committees in the life of the church.

Seasonal Committee

Helps the congregation live a faith-rooted life by providing opportunities to love God with all our heart (Fellowship), all our soul (Worship), all our mind (Christian Education), and all our strength (Building Beloved Community); and love our neighbors as ourselves (Mission).

There are four seasons, Fall (September-November), Winter (December-February), Spring (March-May), and Summer (June-August)

Deacons

The office of Deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of the Deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress.

Building and Grounds

Responsible for matters relating to the use and care of the church property. Oversee the maintenance and repair of the church building and grounds to keep it clean and safe for maximum use and comfort.

Personnel

All personnel are under the jurisdiction of the Committee; conducting annual performance reviews, salary, vacation, etc. Responsible for pastoral ministry. Responsible for church communications and newsletters.

Finance and Stewardship

Responsible for matters relating to the provision of adequate funds to carry out the church programs as developed by the Session and other standing committees.
