The local church governing body is the Session which is made up of 9 elected representatives of the congregation, who are ordained as Elders. These members serve as liaisons to the various committees in the life of the church.
Ministry Opportunities
Members and friends of First Presbyterian Church are invited and encouraged to be involved in the ministry of the church. One of the ways everyone can take part is by serving with others to carry out the mission and work of the church.

Session
Deacons
The office of Deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of the Deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress.
Missions Committee
Works to provide opportunities for outreach, to our community and to the world, by supporting financial giving to worthy causes and coordinating hands-on service opportunities.
Fellowship & Membership
Helps to provide fellowship opportunities that bring the community together and invite others in. Also works with the Pastor and Session to monitor church membership rolls.
Christian Education
Works with the Pastor and other church leaders to provide learning opportunities for all ages. This includes Sunday School for our children, Youth Group gatherings, Confirmation, and Adult Education.
Building and Grounds
Responsible for matters relating to the use and care of the church property. Works in partnership with our Church Sexton to oversee the maintenance and repair of the church building and grounds to keep it clean and safe for maximum use and comfort.
Personnel Committee
All personnel are under the jurisdiction of the Committee; who work with the Pastor (as Head of Staff) to conduct annual performance reviews and review salary and benefits for staff.
Finance and Stewardship
Working with the Church Treasurer, this committee is responsible for matters relating to the provision of adequate funds to carry out the church programs as developed by the Session and other standing committees, for monitoring all church finances, and for providing a budget for the church's annual operations.
Worship and Sacraments
In partnership with the Pastor and Deacons, this committee provides support for worship services, worship volunteers, and the appropriate decorating and provision of the sanctuary.
Special Committees
The Session may appoint special committees to carry out specific tasks for a period of time.
Current Special Committees:
Transition Team - works with the Intentional Transitional Pastor to guide the congregation through its current pastoral transition and help it prepare for new pastoral leadership.
