Litany for the Day
Scripture Lesson- Acts 9:1-19a
Prayer of the Day
One Voice: We pray for the church, the world, and all those in need.
A brief silence.
One Voice: Your persecutor, Saul, suffered a great shock on the way to becoming your servant, Paul. Awaken us where we have fallen asleep, and shake us out of harmful habits and destructive attitudes. Show us how to fully employ our best gifts to your glory. Risen Lord,
Many Voices: Hear our prayer.
One Voice: Lights may not blind us nor voices thunder in our ears, but the waters of this blue planet are steadily rising, and the effects of our abuse and neglect are unmistakable. Teach us to recognize and heed the warnings while we yet have a chance to be part of the solution in preserving our cosmic home. Risen Lord,
Many Voices: Hear our prayer.
One Voice: Sometimes the unenviable task falls to us, and you ask us to face what we fear most. Give us the courage of Ananias, who though he was terrified, obeyed your command and followed, to the benefit of millions. Risen Lord,
Many Voices: Hear our prayer.
One Voice: Make the scales fall from our eyes and restore us to fullness of vision and strength by your spirit, O God of hope and healing. Send your mercy especially to those in Syria, those who do not have a warm place to rest their head, those who are grieving a loss, those who are celebrating a milestone, those whose names are all but forgotten, those whose names are always on our tongues. Risen Lord,
Many Voices: Hear our prayer.
One Voices: Following the trail blazed by the earliest warriors of the Church, we take our place in the line of redeemed saints whose joy it is to praise your name forever. Risen Lord,
Many Voices: Hear our prayer.
Here you may offer other prayers on your heart.
One Voice: Mighty and merciful God, you have provided us with everything we need to carry out the work before us. Accept our prayers and fortify us for the days to come. Amen.
Thoughts for the Week
This week we want you to think about where you have had a conversion experience, where you have been changed, and what you have been called to do with this new sight, this new knowledge, this new life?
Heidi and I would love to talk to you about them, we’d love to hear your story, we’d love to share a cup of coffee, an email exchange, a letter, we’d love to hear your stories of conversion.
We’d also love to see how we can join together to share these stories, as Paul did, to continue to tell the story of God in the world.
The litany for the day and the prayer for the day have been adapted from resources from Clergy Stuff.
